Prints & Slit!

Hello! I hope you had a nice weekend.  I attended a fun event hosted by one of the city's local magazines.  I also reviewed some of my school notes for my job which I'll be starting tomorrow.  In the field of nursing/medicine, I think continuous education is a necessity and reviewing never hurts.

Anyway, I was happy to receive this bag from Debisi.  It can be called an Ankara bag or African inspired bag because of the African fabrics, prints used which are usually bold/bright.  Because it's a printed blue bag, I paired it with this slit blue skirt, but kept the rest of the look more neutral keeping the focus on the bag.  I think adding a printed accessory to an outfit is one way to make the look pop.

Bag- Debisi, Skirt (sale)- ASOS, Shirt- Forever 21 (Similar), Shoes- A'gaci (Similar), Necklace (red on sale)- Anthropologie

Thanks for visiting and watch out for a clutch giveaway from Debisi soon!

Black, White, & Gold!

Hello! Hope your week so far has been great.  I have been enjoying my last week of being off work because I accepted a position as a nurse practitioner with a doctor I respect.  Days ago, I was excited about receiving my license and prescription authorization number.  Although looking forward to the work, I'm anxious.

I have been shopping for work clothes which I needed because in my previous job, I mainly wore scrubs.  I got this white shirt because of it's versatility.  I think a crisp white shirt is a closet staple.  I simply paired it with this ankle pants with a gold stripe, gold jewelry, black heels and bag.  For work, I'd switch the shoe and less jewelry :)

Shirt- Express, Pants (sale)- Express, Bag- Marc Jacobs (Similar), Bracelet/Ring- NY & Co (listed in older posts), Heels- A'gaci (similar), Necklace- Brina Box
Thank you for stopping by!

Hello 2014 in Tweed!

Hello and happy new year! Hope you had an amazing Christmas and New year!! I went to church with my hubby on Christmas day which was nice because he doesn't always go but I'm working on it ha.  We opened gifts with family and went to the movie, Wolf of Wall Street.  I thought Leonardo Dicaprio did a great job and will probably get a nomination but overall, I thought it was too much sex and drugs.  I was in Austin for the new year and on the eve of, we went to dinner, watched fireworks, attended a party, and rang in 2014.  I thank God for the gift of life into a new year.

My outfit today is tweed. This is my first tweed outfit and I loved that it's a two piece because it's an already put together look so I just added the red-orange shoes, clutch, and jewelry to add a pop of color.  I think two pieces are a great closet investment because each piece can be worn independently of the other.  For example, I'm already thinking of wearing the pants to work with a white shirt.

Thanks so much for supporting my blogging adventure which has impacted me in a positive way.  I'm looking forward to more in 2014 and I wish you all a happy and blessed new year!
